General Dentist in Billerica, MA

Finding a dental home with general dentists who can address many of your dental needs is the best way to ensure a lifetime of good oral health. At Merry Dental, we provide general dentistry services for your whole family in one convenient location.

When you entrust the health of your family’s smiles to our team, we honor that trust by providing you with high-quality dental care that you can count on. Whether you need routine care or are having a dental emergency, our general dentists are here to help.

The foundation of our practice is our general dentistry services, which include preventive care, diagnostics, restorative treatments, cosmetic treatments, and emergency services.

What is Preventive Dental Care?

Preventive care is one of the primary focuses of our general dentistry. Preventive care typically involves bi-annual comprehensive dental checkups, which include professional cleanings, oral exams, and digital X-rays.

Routine preventive care helps ensure early diagnosis of dental issues such as cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer. Early diagnosis and timely treatment of dental problems often lead to more successful treatment outcomes.

Preventive care can also include dentist-recommended fluoride treatments and dental sealants. Both are additional ways to prevent tooth decay from compromising the health of your smile.

Fluoride treatments involve the application of a fluoride gel to the surfaces of teeth, strengthening tooth enamel. Fluoride treatments boost the ability of tooth enamel to resist the oral bacteria that cause cavities and gum disease.

Dental sealants are a thin plastic coating that is brushed onto the surfaces of the teeth, filling in tiny grooves and indentations to prevent tooth decay. Once applied, dental sealants can protect teeth for up to ten years.

They are often used to protect children’s emerging adult teeth. Dental sealants ensure these permanent teeth stay healthy as children grow into adulthood.

What Are Restorative Dental Treatments?

When preventive measures are not enough, restorative treatments may become necessary. Our general dentists perform a variety of restorative dental treatments to repair and restore the function and appearance of damaged teeth.

Our restorative treatments include tooth-colored fillings for cavities, crowns to protect weakened teeth, bridges, dentures, dental implants to replace missing teeth, and root canal therapy to save infected teeth.

Restoring damaged teeth is vital to overall dental health. These treatments alleviate pain and discomfort and ensure the ability to chew and speak properly.

Dental Diagnostics

Another aspect of our general dentistry is diagnostics. Our general dentists use various diagnostic tools to identify dental problems accurately.

Our primary diagnostic tool is digital X-rays. This advanced imaging technology can reveal oral health issues not visible to the naked eye, such as cavities between teeth, impacted teeth, and bone loss.

To take a digital X-ray, our hygienist or dental assistant places an electronic sensor in your mouth by the teeth to be X-rayed. Once the digital X-ray has been taken, the images are sent to a computer for viewing and record-keeping.

Digital X-rays are safer for our patients. Compared to traditional X-rays, digital X-rays reduce a patient’s exposure to radiation by eighty percent.

Cosmetic Dental Treatments

While the primary focus of our general dentistry is oral health and function, the dentists at Merry Dental can also improve the look of your smile with cosmetic dentistry procedures. We work with you to create a custom treatment plan that can effectively address any concerns you may have with the appearance of your smile.

We offer teeth whitening to remove stains and discolorations, dental bonding and veneers to correct chips, gaps, and misshapen teeth, and Invisalign clear aligners to straighten teeth and correct misalignment. From minor fixes to complete smile makeovers, we can help you love your smile!

Emergency Dental Care

Our general dentists are often the first responders to dental emergencies, including toothaches, broken teeth, and knocked-out teeth. They can provide immediate care to relieve pain and prevent further damage.

In some cases, they may refer patients to specialists if the situation requires advanced treatment.

How Can General Dentistry Help Overall Health?

Studies show that oral health is closely linked to overall health, and general dentists play a vital role in maintaining this connection. Poor oral health can lead to several chronic health issues, including heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory infections.

Conversely, certain medical conditions can affect oral health. Diabetes, for example, increases the risk of gum disease and infections, and patients with diabetes may require more intensive care to maintain their oral health.

Our dentists can collaborate with other healthcare providers to provide the best dental care for patients with existing medical conditions. Our general dentistry services aim to meet all our patients’ individual health needs.

At Merry Dental, we want you to feel like you have found an office where you feel welcomed and comfortable. With preventive care, diagnostics, restorative and cosmetic treatments, and emergency dental support, you can feel confident that the health and appearance of all the smiles in your family are well taken care of.
